Christ the King Temporary Changes FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How will our Kindergarten students get to school?

Yellow busing will be available to Anne Fitzgerald. Students will access regular bus stops (ETS bus stop locations) in the morning, and curb service or door-to-door will be provided during the noon hour drop off.

2. Before this change our family did not qualify for a bus pass to attend school for kindergarten. Due to the decision made, our child now needs to access a bus service to get to Anne Fitzgerald. Will the Division provide a free bus pass for my child to get to and from school?

If the student would not have qualified for yellow bus transportation for kindergarten to Christ the King and this decision requires the student to access transportation to Anne Fitzgerald, the yellow bus pass will be free for that student in kindergarten. Students must live less than 1.0 km from Christ the King to qualify for free transportation.

3. Will my child be guaranteed to go back to Christ the King for Grade 1?

Yes, this is a temporary change for Christ the King. When the Kindergarten students who live in the Christ the King attendance boundary start Grade 1, they will return to Christ the King for Grades 1-9.

4. What if my daycare is outside of the Christ the King boundary, can I get transportation to Anne Fitzgerald?

Yellow busing will only be available from within Christ the King's attendance boundary to Anne Fitzgerald. Yellow busing will not be available from addresses outside Christ the King’s attendance boundary.

5. Will the Kindergarten teachers who are currently at CTK be moved to teach at Anne Fitzgerald?

Through our spring staffing cycle, each school will develop a staffing plan. Teachers identified for priority placement will have opportunities to express interest in the new kindergarten positions at Anne Fitzgerald.

6. Will the CTK area kindergarten students be in their own classes all together to form cohorts and friends that would then move into Grade 1 at CTK?

Class composition is a site based decision and one that will be dependant on many factors, including Kindergarten registration numbers.
